Now, about middle class family restautants, your point is partly valid. I think we have all started thinking upwards. But I think I beg to differ in that, it is not always that we can afford high-end restaurants. We tend to think of a 3/5-start restaurant only when the occasion is once-in-a-life-time kind of a thing. Otherwise, the first thing that strikes our mind is Saravana Bhavan.
Also about increasing salaries in "IT"!!! Beg your pardon again. I think it is increasing salaries all over, in all industries. Maybe IT was the first industry to strat giving this kind of salary. But I think these days a salary of 5 lakhs per annum is considered "normal", irrespective of the industry.

When I said IT, I think that it was the main cause for increasing salaries, as people get paid in US dollars. The Indian IT industry was mainly serving the US market and so naturally salaries were higher.
ReplyDeleteIt was only after IT led the way that other industries had to pay higher to retain talent.
