MEMORIAL DAY

I am moved by reading what Jayaramhas written. To add to what he has said, I just want to say what I often think and say. Nowadays we are all 'tense' always and tension is the most often used word even in TV serials. But, Appa was never tense (or bored). He accomplished so much every day starting with the Ramayanam reading in the morning, then dictating judgements to the stenographer who comes home, bath, lunch and off to court. I have seen him in court a few times and he was majestic there with his tall figure and gown and before taking his seat he would display folded hands - was it a greeting to the advocates or a silent prayer to God tha his judgments should be correct ? In the evening, he would play tennis in the Officers' Club and then off to the other club for some Billiards. Back home and Sandhyavandhanam and reading the case papers till dinner. After Dinner we wuld all sit around briefly for some convesaton. With all this, I am amazed at the number of Homoeo books he readand made copious notes on the medicines. We used to go for a picnic once a month or two months even if we went to the same place again and again. He used to make me Jyaram sing, particularly 'Maye' in Tharangini Ragam and'AiyeMetha Kadinam'from the film Nandanar.

Though e had a large family, he invited two cousins of ours (Kittu and Panju) to stay with us and study in school. He had a large heart. Wherever he went he was treated with much respect.
