Forgot to add:
Happy Birthday Prasad!
Gayathri, Athimber, Rajiv, Nameeta and Trilok
Once again I have been remiss - did not open the blog for quite a few days.
Shocked that I didn't even know Vimala chitti was in a plaster - chitti with your spirit, I am sure you are up and about already! Cheers to you!
Appa, I sent that video to you. Let me see if I can upload it to the blog.
We have to come to Rajiv's house for the weekend. Trilok is konji kanjila vizhundufying with his thatha :)
And I am trying to catch up on mails :)

I am trying to post here a video of Trilok (son of Rajiv Sundaresan). I am sorry, I am not able to do it.
I am very happy (and surprised) that Shruti was able to post the birthday greetings for N.G.Srinivasan WITH HIS PICTURE. Shruti, can you help me by culling out the 'celebrity dates' from Jayaraman's computer and sending the list to me. But then, I do not know how to publish the list every month on the left side as J used to do and you can teach me. Also happy to see Ramya's posting. Ramya, you must be busy with your new Samskritam production and enjoying it thoroughly as usual. I hope there are more people seeing this blog now and they will start contributing.
Many many happy returns of your nakshatram birthday! With love from,
Priya, Jayashankar
Shruti, Prashanth ( he will be here soon)
Vimala and Jaya Patti.
PS: Shruti here posting from Appa's account

Hello everyone, I don't think I've ever directly posted on the blog before. Thank you thatha, for keeping the blog alive.
News from here....well, our lives completely revolve around Netra now. She's growing up fast and is quite her own person. She's started going to a home-based daycare three times a week, so that's really sped up her interactive abilities. Meanwhile, I'm working on a new dance production for Samskrita Bharati, Washington DC. The whole production is in Samskritam. Anuj and I've been pulling quite a few all-nighters recording music for the show (while Netra is asleep):D
More soon!:)
Love Ramya

Nice to see Vimala smiling in spite of the pain she must be having and the inconvenience.
Once, I jumped into a swimming pool in Woodlands Hotel without bending my legs to see if the water would buoy me up and ended up having a minor crack in the foot which needed a plaster and 21 days rest. Later when playing tennis (in Coonoor, in the UPASI touornament) the lace in one shoe got untied, I stepped on it with my other foot, the foot got twisted - result, a crack in the other foot. I continued playing in the tournament for another two days with Rallis Spray and found out on returning to Madras that it was a crack - 21 days again. I used the 'holiday' to do a lot of reading. But my office sent word to me to somehow attend an important meeting of the Fertiliser Association of India and sent me a car. The meeting was on the first floor and I went up hopping on one foot from step to step.
We should all try to keep the blog going. I myself can take up the lead but if a younger person takes it, it can be for a longer time. Anyway, I request Jayashankar to mail to me the list in Jayaram's computer giving the dates of weddings and births in the family. He had collected the information from all the persons in PSC family. I do not enjoy sitting before a computer very much. So, I have not learned how to upload pictures songs etc in the blog or facebook. Vivek refuses to teach me and says I am a bad student whereas he is a bad teacher. Anyway I will try to learn somehow and make the blog interesting. Akila is very active in facebook as also Aishwarya. They should contribute more to the blog. I wonder whether at least now some of those who claim to be silent participants will like to make their presence felt.
I don't know Jayaraman Perippa as much as the rest of the family. But I still struggle to come to terms with the reality of the situation. He was the kind of person who made me realize people who are fundamentally talented are fundamentally modest. It took just a bunch of get togethers, a couple of weddings and some long and short email exchanges to know him then and immeasurably miss him now. RIP, Jayaraman perippa.
Ramakrishna Perippa, please continue the work that he has left and we will all pitch in to keep the blog going.
L,
Aishwarya, Koushik and Amrritha
Its almost a month since Appa passed away. It was so sudden, so quick, so unexpected...my logical mind tells me this was the best way for him...so do all my friends and family. Guess this is .right...and its our only consolation.
Shruti, Prashanth, Priya, Ujwala, Ramesh and Amma join me in thanking the Family for the overwhelming support. So many of you have called from all over the world, so many of you have called on us, stayed with us...I met a few whom I've never met before...its been great.
Appa's crosswords continue to be published, 3 a month in The Hindu, and the cross word bloggers continue to write about Appa. Am quite sure Appa never expected such high praise from this crossword community. Typical of him, he never did anything for the sake of being recognised.
The picture attached here was taken by Krishna Kumar on his last visit from the US. Thank you Kumar. I think it captures his mildly surprised, slightly proud expression whenever his grandchildren, whom he doted on, said or did anything smart.
with love,
Jayashankar

I very much want to continue the blog though the number of PSCians who participate is very low compared to the size of the clan. But, if possible, I would like to coordinate as Jayaraman did. For this I need the information on Birth Dates, Anniversaries etc which is in his computer. Then I want guidance what I should do keep the blog alive. May I request all those, everybody, who sees the blog (even if not contributing) to now make an entry and say he/she would like the blog to continue. Some may not know how to make an entry and they can send me a mail to my ID pcramki@gmail.com
VOID TOO BIG
How I wish I had contributed to the blog when my beloved brother Jayaraman was there. He would have been happy.
Every minute and second we keep thinking about him, talking about him. Not a day passed without Jayaraman and I discussing music. I used call him "paatu mama'. Daily when went out to pluck flowers with a stick, he used to say, "Kambu mami vandhutta." We don't know how to get over this.
But god has been kind. Our prayers that Jayaram should not suffer were answered. But the void is sooo big How we miss you Jayaram.
Let us maintain and continue the blog . That will be the tribute we pay to our dear Jayaram.

We are all slowly coming to grips with the new situation.. Brindavan continues to have visitors and there is a small crowd talking and eating together. The Subasveekara Homam is fixed for Thursday the 27th Feb after which slowly the visitors will go one by one and then the vacuum will hit us. But what to do, we have to force ourselves to continue our routines and accept the situation and learn to live with it. But, it would have been much more difficult to see Jayaram go through Chemotherpy and the related effects. God has been kind to him. May his soul rest in peace.
Struggling to come to terms that you are not with us any more. You have truly proved that you were a 'punyatma' - it is everyone's wish to get 'anaayaasena maranam' - God saw to it that you went to Him easily. Full credit to chitti and the family to take the right decision that you had wanted.
What will become of this blog now? It's lifeline is gone :( :( :( :(

We will all miss his luminous presence...and will always
remember him for what a fine and dignified person he was. Sadly no one
would have been happier to see me contribute to the blog than him and it
took me this long to figure out how to do this.
Incidentally, this
picture which I have been intending to post for a long time, was the last
ever picture appa (Nott Narayanan) took before he passed away...
Hahaha chittappa, I did not sing. Bombay Gnanam staged her play Bodhendraal at Shanmukhananda and Chembur Fine Arts over last weekend. I was roped in to come in leading a Bhagavataal troupe in the last scene with the backdrop of present day Govindapuram. Recorded bhajana music was played.
CONGRATS TO KUMAR ON HIS LATEST MEDAL!!!!!!
I will be in Madras coming weekend for my Goa machinar's grand daughter's wedding. My train tickets were bought well in advance, but with my leg still not ok, I am a just a bit apprehensive - I am travelling alone too :( Hope I get back with no further set backs .....
Best wishes to all in the family for 2014. Let us hope it will bring us all peace and happiness. May it be a year of improved international understanding and national betterment. Jayaraman
Gayatri, we will miss your concert in Chennai as we return to CBE on 10 December. Raju told me yesterday that he saw your concert listed in Periava's programme.
We went to the Ratnagireeswarar temple this evening. A number of devotees seated, chanting Rudram and doing Rudra archana. And an equal number of women seated, reading out some slokas.
Very inspiring.
It has been a dull day in Chennai today, with brief showers, now and then and cloudy weather the rest of the time.

O God! Accidentaa?! Praying for and wishing speedy recovery to all of them. J Chittappa, how long will you be in Madras? We are coming there on 20th late night. I will be singing at Sakatapuram Periyava's camp (at Hemamalini kalyana Mandapam) on Sunday, dec 22nd. Ramya will be dancing with her Guru Kripa Bhaskaran on Dec 31 at Bapalal auditorium, Tiruvanmiyur, and for Kartik Fine Arts on Jan 7. Hope Vivek's leg problem gets cured by Siddhar Arul. Hare Ram Gayathri
Let me join Ramakrishnan in greeting Vichu on his birthday. I have been in Chennai since November 22 and have not been able to do much blogging. Thus, some birthdays have gone unnoticed - those of Bhuvana, Vimala, Pavitra.
For those of the family who may not be aware of it, Rama, Sriram, Raji, Bhavani and Sudha had a providential escape some days ago when the car in which they were travelling to Tiruvannamali overturned near Jenjee and came to rest on its side. Raji sufffered a broken cervical vertebra and has to take absolute rest for some time. Bhavani broke her arm which was reset with a screw. The others, by the grace of God, got away with minor pain and discomfort.
We pray for the early and complete recovery of Raji.

Saradam, I and others at Kovaipudur wish Vichu a happy birthday and many happy returns. I however doubt if he will see this and I have sent him a separate mail. I have been remis in not visiting the blog for quite some time. So let me wish Prashant a happy Birthday, better late than never. I think he is in Madras now. Before Gayathri and group visit to Kovaipudur we had Sekar, Rajani and her mother. After Gayathri's visit we had P.R.Kumar and Mala. Next monrh Ravi plans to come to Coimbatore with Srilakshmi and her mother and make a trip to Pudukode and he has asked us to join him. The pain in Vivek's left leg is worrying. (he had a minor surgery in the right leg in August). Now even the MRI shows nothing wrong but he says the pain comes intermittantly and is sometimes severe. The doctor (Dr.Vinod) said this may take some six weeks to cure and has prescribed exercises only.

It's been a whirlwind two weeks - after Ramya and Netra arrived, we've spent a lot of time at Rajiv's house. Ore ragalai daan, with both the babies.
Then the CBE trip, then Mardras. Unfortunately Netra fell terribly sick there and has recovered only in the past two days. Her nappy rash is still not completely cleared, so we've been doing a LOTTT of hand washing. With the baby screaming her head off all the time, paavam, all of us, especially Ramya vaadi poyittaa. Rajiv & Nameeta were very supportive, both physically and emotionally.
I went to Kutch with Anuj's parents and a few more family members. Ramya and Netra's got cancelled, of course. So after a very looooong time, I have been able to sit at the comp to check mail :)
Now back to routine - and get set for my father-in-law's shraddham on Wednesday.
I can't believe I did not visit our blog ever since Navrathri!! I normally used to be able to check our blog during breaks at work. But of late, getting a break has become very tough as work is very hectic the last few months.
We got a chance to meet Netra and Trilok during their Chennai vijayam last week. They are both soooo adorable. We had a great time with casual chat.
Best wishes to Ramu and Sarada on their wedding anniversary.
Many happy returns!

Today we had visitors from Kovaipudur and their guests, i.e., Chandru, Mythili, Sekhar, Rajani, Rajani's mother-in-law Mrs.Rajam, Ramesh, Ujwala, KN and Rukku. We had a lively one hour.. I took some photoes which I will send to you later.

I am finding it very difficult to open my google inbox. I get all sorts of things and when I am about to give up I click somewhere and the sign in comes. Do you have this problem.
Happy wedding anniversary to Anu and Rajan and many happy returns.
Best wishes to Charu Prasad on her birthday, 24 October. Many happy returns! Two more dates went un-noted: the wedding anniversaries of Raji/Sriram and Akila/Mohan on the 18th October. Apologies and belated good wishes to them. I am sure they had a great day. May happy returns! Jayaraman

Thanks on behalf of S for the B'day wishes. We were at Sakatapuram - a close friend had organised Chandi Homam and Ati Rudram - and it was a lovely four days there. And especially fulfilling to have Periyava's blessings on S's bday. Hare Ram Gayathri
Belated birthday greetings to Skanda (18th) and Sundaresan (19th October). Many happy returns! The last two days have passed without any time to sit at the computer - on the 18th, a half day visit to the passport office with Chandru and yesterday to Ottapalam with KN, Rukku and Chandru. Rukku stayed back for a two-week ayurvedic treatment. Jayaraman
Also wishing everybody a very happy Dusserah. There was no golu at our place this year,as I have been shuttling between 2 places. So, missed all the frenzy, inviting, arranging, baking/cooking etc. Though we did have fun visiting people as always.
I am almost at the end of my porandhaathu stint and have to return to our own abode this weekend.
Belated birthday greetings to Anupama. I sent her an e-mail yesterday and got a nice reply.
It is great that Ramakrishnan had such a nice birthday. Gayahtri's post and the photo are very good.
September and October have so many birthdays of the Family. In our younger years, it was customary for a vadhyar to come home and do the ayushya homam. And there was of course payasam with the sappadu.

Thank you to all of you who havve posted here or otherwise wished me a happy birthday. You would have seen gayathri's posting and pictures.
My belated wish to Chandru, Kumar and Sekhar for a happy birthday and many happy returns.
We are enjoying our holiday with Gayathri in Bombay and the holiday is coming to a close in ten days and then, back to the grind.
Quite unplann-edly appa's birthday got to be a lovely celebration! Nameeta and baby Trilok came here on Friday night itself. Nameeta had specially baked a cake (eggless - it being Mahalaya paksham and all that) :), and I had to secretly stow it away in the kuttiest of kutti fridges there can be.
I had made gulab jamuns.
Mythili-Ramani Athimber-Niru and Shubraja came by 4pm. Rajiv called to say his recording would take till 8pm, so we had to go ahead with the cake cutting without him. So, we sang 'Happy Birthday' while appa cut the cake - probably the first time he celebrated this way? :):)
For uppu-karam I had made upma kozhakattai and chutni. Niru was happily clicking away - she has posted some pictures on fb, I will try to download and post some here.
We all remembered Kumar and Sekhar who must have been celebrating elsewhere :) And also Seshu mama's twin grand children Shraddha and Hriday.
But surely the icing on the cake was having Trilok here :):)
I just realized that it's been a while since I last posted here. Thank you for your wishes perippa (for appa's birthday). I will convey to him. M has gone to Germany on a short trip, so V and I have piled on amma and appa :) We celebrated Vinayaga chathurthi there, when I realized that I am officially celebrating a festival at porandhaagam after 11 years!!! Though we always drop in for a few minutes on festivals during the evening, we never celebrated any festival there. So, it was good for a change.

Wishing Chandru a happy birthday and many more with good health and cheer.
Let me join Ramakrishnan in greeting Anu on her birthday today. I guess she does not see this blog, so I have mailed to her Ramakrishnan's post. Vimala rang her up tis morning to wish her a happy birthday. Forgot to call Ramu on his birthday. He is not able to visit the blog these days, thanks to the pressures of work. Jayaraman

Hi all! I think it's been a while since I checked / wrote on our blog!
Appa and Saradamma arrived here last Friday. The next four days we enjoyed Bharat's son akshay's wedding. The day after that was my programme at Chembur Fine Arts, singing for a Bharatanrityam event. The organisers had wanted a two hour show - we wisely prepared 100 min of dance. Then the pgm itself started late, there was a lot of speechifying since it was an inaugural show. Finally we had to cut three items to finish by 9.30pm!
Well, thankfully my singing was appreciated - proof - Chembur fine Arts VP asked me to present a music pgm after hearing me that day! I have to send them a mail - hope it materialises :)
Today appa and Saradamma have gone to Niru's house where Mythili and Ramani Athimber have come too. They'll stay there for two days and be back on Tuesday.
Today is Lalitha/PGS's wedding anniversary. Best wishes to them.
I tried to call Laitha a little while back. No answer. She and PGS have been extremely busy with preparations for moving house - to their flat in Dwarka.
Thambi some times spoke about Sri Baug. It seems it had (has?) as many as seven doorways, with different names. Ramakrishnan and I once visited Sri Baug, thanks to Bobjee, who knew some of the new owners.
Imagine having to live in such a house today, with all the attendant problems of finding servants, security, water, power etc. etc. But I guess if you lived in such a house you would have enough money to find people to do all the work for you!
Bhavana (Thambi Papa's daughter) had given the link to the Sri Baug article on FB and now a lovely conversation is going on - Kalpana (Padmini athai's daughter said athai remembers anecdotes told by Peria Thatha; I have asked appa to put his reminiscences together. Hope other elders also will have some thoughts.
In fact Bhavana is trying to plan a visit to the building - a group visit with as many of us that can come together. Wonder where we should go for permission?
Happy birthday/anniversary to Rajani manni and Sundar anna-Charu manni.
V's tests for the academic year (4th std) begin on the 17th and they last for over a month!! They finish only on 20th August!!! And just a few days from then, probably a week later, the 2nd cycle tests start. Huh!! So, that means that we are bound to our homes for the rest of the year. Not that I am a paatti or something, but these days why do parents have to literally study all over again with the kids? I don't ever remember amma or appa sit with us and help us with studies. Neither did we attend tutions, atleast not till we were in 11th or so. So, how did we all study? What has changed now? And V's only in 4th now. What would happen as she goes to higher classes? SHUDDER
Wishing Hari anna a very happy birthday. We all had a get together to celebrate this occasion at Mahamudra yesterday and had a great time.
Here is a link to the pictures
