Happy birthday, Sudha!

Best wishes, Sudha. Many happy returns. Hope to see you in the blog some time soon.

Vimala and Jayaraman

The 24th of March - today- is Sudha's birthday.

Many happy returns of the day Sudha.

Monday, March 17, 2008

Yesterday I logged off in a hurry; had to prepare dinner.
So I continue with a little bit of what i should have writtenyesterday. Sudha's birthday falls on 24th March.
Yes Chithappa, he used to take us to good English movies and follow it with visits to the Jaffer's
for ice cream. Mid 1960s through the 80s once at least once a month he used to take us on 'long drives' over the week ends on Saturdays / Sundays; 'like the English' - he used to insist that family outing over the weekend away from the bustle and hustle of the city was very important.

He is a very interesting person and what more , a very very cheerful person to this day.

Try this when you have time

This is very good. Not sure if I sent this as a mail.

Takes atleast half an hour to resolve. But a good one to set us thinking

Wishes

Wishing Thambi Perippa and Arvind anna a very very happy birthday.

Answer

Athimber,
You got it right!!! POST BOX it is :)

Happy birthday!

Ramaa, thanks for the post. Here is wishing Thambi (Anna) a happy birthday (belated though the message is). As I think of Thambi, my mind goes back to the times in Kalpakambal Nagar where, during one year, he took me to more than 100 movies! Mostly night shows, with a cup of tea in Irani Restaurant on the way back, after midnight. I was in my second and third year honours course then. Appa might have some times felt that I should have been studying rather than going to late night shows. But he never once said a word nor even conveyed by expression that he was displeased. I am sure about the number of movies as I kept a record of every movie that I saw and the book showed more than 120 entries in a little over a year.

May Thambi have good health and peace and enjoy many more birthdays.

Puzzle

Chandru Mama! I think you got it! POST BOX seems to fit the conditions, but....it is two words, so.......
Akila, back to you!
Gayathri
Appa's _ Thambi Anna's birthday is , variously on February 28 1920 - S.S.L.Cert, accepted and known date 12th March 1920 , and the date on the passport is 20th March 1920. Indu celebrated his birthday with the cutting of the cake and a lot of cheer and happiness
But it is not a 7 letter word !! My answer is wrong I know now.
I accessed the blog after a long time; refreshing to read on and the family members.

The answer to the puzzle is : HABIT

Answer to the riddle

The puzzle seems interesting, but I have not really applied my mind to it yet. I think I am going to be too lazy, and simply wait for someone to provide the answer!

IF WE REMOVE 1 LETTER FROM IT, IT REMAINS SAME.
IF WE REMOVE 2 LETTERS FROM IT, IT REMAINS SAME.
IF WE REMOVE 3 LETTERS FROM IT, IT REMAINS SAME.
IF WE REMOVE ALL THE LETTERS FROM IT, STILL IT REMAINS SAME.

WHATZ IT ?

Answer later!!!! Hehe

Arvind birthday - 17 March.

2. Best wishes to Rajiv, Krishnakumar, Srilakshmi, Ashok on their birthdays (I am* late!!).

Cricket madness

The Australia tour is over and 'our boys' are richer, with a fat bonus to boot. One wonders what would have happened if they had failed or what will happen if they do badly againt South Africa. India's is a young team and there was abundant evidence of it on and off field during the tour. Some of the antics looked positively childish, at least to a fossil like me. One 'gain' from the recent tour could be that the team members have gone some way in learning the 'art' (as Dhoni would have it) of sledging.

Ujwala!

First, Belated Birthday wishes to Kumar.
Wowwwwwwww- no words to describe Ujwala's work! After looking at the first 2-3 pages & reading everything too, I had to tear myself away from the comp to get to my chores. Will get to it again, because I want to do justice to all of it. Prodigious output too- never knew she was doing it so seriously, full time!! Kudos!
Am leaving for Sringeri tomorrow with family for a poonal there. Will be out of circulation for almost a week. See you all after my return (with the customary photo album:))

Fair Game

Perippa, thanks for that link. Very nice subjects. I specifically like the "Fair Game". The painting has captured very well the typical reaction that most of us give when we face with such incidents.

Wishes

Wishing Kumar anna a very very happy birthday and many more

Inertia

This blog has been suffering from acute inertia for some time. Pity. But it will go on, even if only two or three members make a contribution now and then. It has a viewership in some unexpected locations, including someone in Austin, Texas. There is an occasional visitor from Germany and one or two from the U.K. I hope those who do drop in do not find the contents too boring. So I have decided to post an occasional thought or two May be others will also chip in.

The March birthdays seem too few for such a big family. Perhaps my info is incomplete. If others have additions to make, I would request them to post them very soon.
