     To add to what Akila has said.  It was she who told me some time ago that Liffy Thomas of The Hindu would contact me to talk about the blog.  Liffy did and I told her also about the blog run by Vimala's brother Kalyan.  Liffy, accompanied by a photographer, visited Kalyan and the result is the artile in the Hindu, (Chennai edition only).  Aiswharya, whose colleague Liffy is, will be happy to know that Kalayan found Liffy very courteous and likeable.

Anniversary of the blog

Our blog steps into its third year today. I was trying to think of something profound to say but did not succeed. But this I should say. I have enjoyed the blog and the inputs of all our participants. Let us keep the ball rolling.

I have added a clock/calendar to theblog. Also a search tool through which we can recall old posts. Comments on changes and improvements are welcome. To remind members, do not add comments through the 'comments' tab under posts. They will go unnoticed. How many of us saw the comment of Aishwarya on of the recent posts?

The blog

Looking at the performance of our blog over the last two years, I have come to the conclusion that some changes are warranted. Hereafter, there will be no routine posts FROM ME re. birthdays and other events. Members are welcome to drop in and view the posts whenever they wish and to contribute whatever they would like to.

My contribution for today. Ramesh and Ujwala are visiting with us for a couple of days, mainly to sort out some routine things prior to our move to Brindavan. We are enjoying their company. Mostly we are all home bound, dealing with paper work.

Saradam, Charu and Ramakrishnan are all understood to be indisposed. I hope they will recover fully very soon.

The blog

The points Ramakrishnan makes are valid and important. Let us hope the blog will grow in content and viewership. When it was started, invitations had been sent to several family members to join, and some did. But most of them rarely post anything and perhaps do not even open it.

When posting anything, it will be nice to add a label, for which there is a window at the bottom of the page. This will help us link connected posts and to call them up later.

For posting pictures, I generally use Picasa. Choose and hold the picture, click on 'blog' and then wait for the window to give you instructions. You can add any message you want after the picture is 'done'. Another way is to start a post, click on 'add image', browse and choose the image and follow the prompts on the window. In the latter case, you should know in advance the location of the pic you want to post and its address line.

We have moved to November!

     Yes, we remained in October till now.  There was no problem with the site.  Of late, very few people have been posting anything,  perhaps only two or three.  This is certainly not conducive to maintaining any enthusiasm for the blog.  Hence the inaction on my part.  

I have now updated the birthday list for the second half of November, to the extent I have info.  Let us make the blog more active and interesting, instead of confining ourselves to birthday/anniversary greetings.  The life and quality of the blog depend on all the members and their willingness to participate.

Comments welcome

The settings of this blog have been changed to allow comments from non-members also. This is in the hope that some visitors to the blog may like to say something or make some suggestions. We look forward to contributions from them as also from members.

Inertia

This blog has been suffering from acute inertia for some time. Pity. But it will go on, even if only two or three members make a contribution now and then. It has a viewership in some unexpected locations, including someone in Austin, Texas. There is an occasional visitor from Germany and one or two from the U.K. I hope those who do drop in do not find the contents too boring. So I have decided to post an occasional thought or two May be others will also chip in.

The March birthdays seem too few for such a big family. Perhaps my info is incomplete. If others have additions to make, I would request them to post them very soon.

I have one comment, from Harish, suggesting that the text should be in black. I think it is a valid point and the change has been made. Thanks, Hari.

The new template

I would appreciate comments on the new template of our blog and the colour scheme. The change was not intended. I was fiddling with some settings and suddenly found that I had changed the template. Not remembering the name of the one used earlier, I was unable to go back to it!


So please tell me if the new one needs to be changed or improved in some way.

As far as I know, it is not possible to send individual replies to one or more selected persons through the blog. Such messages will have to go through e-mail.
