Kamala Manni

The demise of Kamala Manni a few days ago will have saddened many of us who have known her for a long, long time. I was reminded of her Lakshmikara presence in 'Akka aam' and later in her home  in Alwarpet. She played a big role in the family. Thinking of her brought back memories of her father G G Krishna Iyer's home on Murrays Gate Road, known to us as 'the Plot', his wife and children - G K Rajagopalan, G K Narayanan, Sakku ...
I am reminded of the lines in Isaac Watts's hymn  "O God our help in ages past:
Time like an ever rolling stream
Bears all its sons away
and we are left with memories.
