This may be difficult to believe, but Coca Cola was four annas (25 p.) a bottle when I first went to Delhi in 1957. Pepsi Cola was five annas. Today, I bought one podalanga (snake gourd) for a little over 32 rupees.

This day - 10 April - in 2001, the Netherlands approved a bill legalising euthanasia. Also this day in 1938, the Austrians, in a sham plebiscite, approved the Anschluss (the unification of Austria with Germany).
