Appa entered his 80th year yesterday (star b'day). TSS & I went to Adyar Padmanabhaswamy temple early in the morning and got the prasadams, and prayed hard that all problems should smoothen out in the family.
I will be singing at Velacheri temple this evening - hope it goes off well.
Tomorrow we'll meet Rajam Sir at his house for Vijaya Dasami. Even at this age and health condition, he makes it a point to teach a song on this day - he gets the notation and photocopies ready beforehand!

During nalangu, as usual my voice broke & I couldn't sing while a full term pregnant Seetha Narayanan sang so well - I heard the Swati Tirunal tillana geetha dhuniku taka for the first time sung by her.
No photos this time akila? :):)Hope you have a wonderful holiday in Delhi - how long? Weather should be nice now, I think - am I right ex-delhivasis? Hope you won't miss Taj Mahal - for all the travel I have done these past 5 years, I have still not seen the Taj!

A long pending update

It has been over a month now since my last post in our blog. But then, quite a lot has been happening.

My oven broke down the day before Vaishnavi's birthday. So we went in for a microwave + convection this time. I am still getting used to it. So, now my baking is at a very slow pace. I tried my hand at an almond cake and also microwave theratti paal. The almond cake was crisp on top and very soft underneath!!! I guess I need to understand the heating system better. Any tips/ideas anybody? While baking, should I keep my bakig tray on the rotating glass tray or should I remove that? I am somehow suspicious about that. The manual does not say anything about it.

We are really looking forward to our Delhi trip. This is a 3-year plan. We planned the last 2 years and booked tickets this year, haha. Hope it would be implemented too till the end (keeping fingers and toes crossed).

Vimala and I plan to go to Delhi tomorrow for a brief visit. (Vimala's sister Lalita's husband Balakrishnan passed away yesterday morning, after a long period of illness.) We expect to be back in Coimbatore on Wednesday (9th September) afternoon.

I came back from my Yatra to Jagannath Puri & Andhra temples on Aug 30th. Since then I have been literally drowned with Prayas work. We are planning a huge eye camp along with Shankara Nethralaya. Two Drs had come to see our med centre yesterday. since that space will not be enough, we are taking the adjacent school premises for the camp. We showed them the place & then we discussed all the arrangements to be made. Now we have to co-ordinate & get so many things done, starting with making the pamphlets & registration of patients.
Tomorrow is Prayas 13th annual day. Thankfully this time I will be only a spectator- not participating!
I will be doing the MS bhajan concert again at Velacheri next Sunday. I will be changing 2-3 songs to suit this set of audience. Hope it goes well.
I met Papa athai-athimber at Vidya's house. I also went & saw Tapu peripa as I could not attend the sathabhishekam.
My 4th nathanar's husband Ranganathan athimber is to be operated for colon cancer at Amrita hospital at Ernakulam on 14th. Please pray for his recovery.
