Wedding receptions

     I fully agree with Gayathri re. wedding receptions.  They have become routine-ridden, without  any  interaction between the guests and the newlyweds.  Having to stand in line for several minutes, all the time wondering if there is sill room in the first 'pankthi' for dinner, is far from  a pleasant experience.  And the usual experience is that the couple arrive at the reception quite a bit behind time, the excuse often being that the bride had gone for a professional make-up.  The noise level is usually very high, making conversation difficult.  If you add a live concert, the picture is complete!

  We need people who are willing to abandon mere custom for sense.  Anyway, the present custom is itself not very old.

I've been out of the scene for quite long too.
First thanks for all your B'day wishes. And then, thanks to EVERYONE who came for Rajiv's wedding at Pune & the reception in Madras. But for your presence & wishes, it could not have gone off as well as it did!
To be honest, I do not like the idea of people standing in a queue & coming up on stage. In fact that was precisely why we did without a formal "Reception" at Ramya's wedding. But in Rajiv's case, I had no choice. And TSS & I had to be on stage to introduce everyone to Rajiv & Nameeta. Left to myself, I would have preferred to be in the hall, going around, meeting and talking to everyone. I am really sorry for making you all go through the rigmarole of coming in line, & then posing for picture!
But true also, that it feels nice to have photos with each & everyone on this occasion!
Rajiv is still without a net connection in his new house, so I think it is going to take a while before he puts up the photos on the net. Will give the link as soon as it is done.

FROM RAMU

1. Belated birthday wishes to Rukku and Gayathri. Many happy returns.
2. I could not check mail from 19th till 23rd as we were in Trichy.
3. We had tickets for departrure by Kanyakumari Express leaving Trichy on 22nd at 00.40 Hrs. When we went to station on 22nd night, we found that our tickets were for early morning ( like flight )! We had to take a bus on 23rd and reach here in the night.

Loong time, no posts/updates on our blog!!! Hope everybody is doing well. All's well from our side. Appa and amma have gone to Trichy and should be back tonight. They were supposed to return today morning, but due to some slight confusion with the ticket, they are coming tonight.
I had taken off 2 days last week from work (actually worked from home). Mohan is doing fine too. Seems he spoke to Sowmya akka sometime last week. But as his project is nearing completion, work is a little hectic. So, he would be visiting them after his project is over. In the meantime I am preparing a list of things we need mohan to get from there ;).
