(Re. Akila's query, the usual thing would be to say "Koushik is engaged to Aishwarya" but I do not know if Akila's phrase is wrong. It sounds fine to me.)
Regarding Akila's query, "engaged to' when it refers to a mann and a woman, means they are engaged to be married. There is no need to say "to wed". You can be engaged to "do something else" such as write a book.
