My Childhood Navarathri

Appa and Ramakrishna perippa have added some fuel to memories of my childhood navarathri. We were in Trichy and atleast 5 children in the house at any time. My grandmother used to have an elaborate golu and every evening all 5 of us used to be dressed up in one vesham. After that we used to go about inviting people and singing "Ammami goluvukku sundal"!!! And yes, singing was compulsory. One of the days the girls' hair used to be decorated with flowers, I think it's called poo vechi thekkardhu.

I am trying my best to make Vaishnavi experience atleast half of all the fun we used to have. I wanted to dress her up in veshams this year, but could not as the golu itself was very last minute. Hope to achieve more next year.
