VOID TOO BIG

How I wish I had contributed  to the blog  when my  beloved brother  Jayaraman  was there.  He would have been happy.

Every minute  and second  we  keep  thinking  about him, talking about him. Not a day passed without  Jayaraman and I discussing  music. I used call him "paatu mama'. Daily  when went out to pluck flowers  with  a stick,  he used to say,  "Kambu  mami vandhutta."   We don't  know  how to get  over  this.

But god has been kind. Our  prayers  that Jayaram should not suffer were answered. But the void is sooo big How we miss you Jayaram. 

Let us  maintain  and  continue  the  blog . That  will be the tribute  we pay  to our dear  Jayaram.

We are all slowly coming to grips with the new situation.. Brindavan continues to have visitors and there is a small crowd talking and eating together. The Subasveekara Homam is fixed for Thursday the 27th Feb after which slowly the visitors will go one by one and then the vacuum will hit us. But what to do, we have to force ourselves to continue our routines and accept the situation and learn to live with it. But, it would have been much more difficult to see Jayaram go through Chemotherpy and the related effects. God has been kind to him. May his soul rest in peace.

J chittappa - can't believe..............

Struggling to come to terms that you are not with us any more. You have truly proved that you were a 'punyatma' - it is everyone's wish to get 'anaayaasena maranam' - God saw to it that you went to Him easily. Full credit to chitti and the family to take the right decision that you had wanted.

What will become of this blog now? It's lifeline is gone :( :( :( :(

Hahaha chittappa, I did not sing. Bombay Gnanam staged her play Bodhendraal at Shanmukhananda and Chembur Fine Arts over last weekend. I was roped in to come in leading a Bhagavataal troupe in the last scene with the backdrop of present day Govindapuram. Recorded bhajana music was played.

I will be in Madras coming weekend for my Goa machinar's grand daughter's wedding. My train tickets were bought well in advance, but with my leg still not ok, I am a just a bit apprehensive - I am travelling alone too :( Hope I get back with no further set backs .....

Concert, temple

Gayatri, we will miss your concert in Chennai as we return to CBE on 10 December.  Raju told me yesterday that he saw your concert listed in Periava's programme.

We went to the Ratnagireeswarar temple this evening.  A number of devotees seated, chanting Rudram and doing Rudra archana.  And an equal number of women seated, reading out some slokas.
Very inspiring.

It has been a dull day in Chennai today, with brief showers, now and then and cloudy weather the rest of the time.

Let me join Ramakrishnan in greeting Vichu on his birthday.  I have been in Chennai since November 22 and have not been able to do much blogging.  Thus, some birthdays have gone unnoticed - those of Bhuvana, Vimala, Pavitra.

For those of the family who may not be aware of it, Rama, Sriram, Raji, Bhavani and Sudha had a providential escape some days ago when the car in which they were travelling to Tiruvannamali overturned near Jenjee and came to rest on its side.  Raji sufffered a broken cervical vertebra and has to take absolute rest for some time.  Bhavani broke her arm which was reset with a screw.  The others, by the grace of God,  got away with minor pain and discomfort.

We pray for the early and complete recovery of Raji.

Saradam, I and others at Kovaipudur wish Vichu a happy birthday and many happy returns. I however doubt if he will see this and I have sent him a separate mail. I have been remis in not visiting the blog for quite some time. So let me wish Prashant a happy Birthday, better late than never. I think he is in Madras now.

Before Gayathri and group visit to Kovaipudur we had Sekar, Rajani and her mother. After Gayathri's visit we had P.R.Kumar and Mala. Next monrh Ravi plans to come to Coimbatore with Srilakshmi and her mother and make a trip to Pudukode and he has asked us to join him.

The pain in Vivek's left leg is worrying. (he had a minor surgery in the right leg in August). Now even the MRI shows nothing wrong but he says the pain comes intermittantly and is sometimes severe. The doctor (Dr.Vinod) said this may take some six weeks to cure and has prescribed exercises only. 

It's been a whirlwind two weeks - after Ramya and Netra arrived, we've spent a lot of time at Rajiv's house. Ore ragalai daan, with both the babies.
Then the CBE trip, then Mardras. Unfortunately Netra fell terribly sick there and has recovered only in the past two days. Her nappy rash is still not completely cleared, so we've been doing a LOTTT of hand washing. With the baby screaming her head off all the time, paavam, all of us, especially Ramya vaadi poyittaa. Rajiv & Nameeta were very supportive, both physically and emotionally.

I went to Kutch with Anuj's parents and a few more family members. Ramya and Netra's got cancelled, of course. So after a very looooong time, I have been able to sit at the comp to check mail :)
Now back to routine - and get set for my father-in-law's shraddham on Wednesday.

I can't believe I did not visit our blog ever since Navrathri!! I normally used to be able to check our blog during breaks at work. But of late, getting a break has become very tough as work is very hectic the last few months.
We got a chance to meet Netra and Trilok during their Chennai vijayam last week. They are both soooo adorable. We had a great time with casual chat.

Today we had visitors from Kovaipudur and their guests, i.e., Chandru, Mythili, Sekhar, Rajani, Rajani's mother-in-law Mrs.Rajam, Ramesh, Ujwala, KN and Rukku. We had a lively one hour.. I took some photoes which I will send to you later.

I guess you are e referring to gmail.  Next time you get thru to gmail, you can add it to your bookmarks, so that all you need to do is click on he bookmark which will take yu straight to gmail.  You can even add it to your favurites so that its icon will show up on the screen whenever you access the server.

We are enjoying our holiday with Gayathri in Bombay and the holiday is coming to a close in ten days and then, back to the grind.

PCR Bday

Quite unplann-edly appa's birthday got to be a lovely celebration! Nameeta and baby Trilok came here on Friday night itself. Nameeta had specially baked a cake (eggless - it being Mahalaya paksham and all that) :), and I had to secretly stow it away in the kuttiest of kutti fridges there can be.
I had made gulab jamuns.
Mythili-Ramani Athimber-Niru and Shubraja came by 4pm. Rajiv called to say his recording would take till 8pm, so we had to go ahead with the cake cutting without him. So, we sang 'Happy Birthday' while appa cut the cake - probably the first time he celebrated this way? :):)
For uppu-karam I had made upma kozhakattai and chutni. Niru was happily clicking away - she has posted some pictures on fb, I will try to download and post some here.

We all remembered Kumar and Sekhar who must have been celebrating elsewhere :) And also Seshu mama's twin grand children Shraddha and Hriday.

But surely the icing on the cake was having Trilok here :):)

I just realized that it's been a while since I last posted here. Thank you for your wishes perippa (for appa's birthday). I will convey to him.

M has gone to Germany on a short trip, so V and I have piled on amma and appa :) We celebrated Vinayaga chathurthi there, when I realized that I am officially celebrating a festival at porandhaagam after 11 years!!! Though we always drop in for a few minutes on festivals during the evening, we never celebrated any festival there. So, it was good for a change. 

Wishing Chandru a happy birthday and many more with good health and cheer.

Vivek's surgery was done on31st August and he had two subsequent check ups. His stitch has been removed and he says he has no pain now. He has been going to school since 11th Sep and he ishaving his term exams.

Hi all! I think it's been a while since I checked / wrote on our blog!

Appa and Saradamma arrived here last Friday. The next four days we enjoyed Bharat's son akshay's wedding. The day after that was my programme at Chembur Fine Arts, singing for a Bharatanrityam event. The organisers had wanted a two hour show - we wisely prepared 100 min of dance. Then the pgm itself started late, there was a lot of speechifying since it was an inaugural show. Finally we had to cut three items to finish by 9.30pm!

Well, thankfully my singing was appreciated - proof - Chembur fine Arts VP asked me to present a music pgm after hearing me that day! I have to send them a mail  - hope it materialises :)

Today appa and Saradamma have gone to Niru's house where Mythili and Ramani Athimber have come too. They'll stay there for two days and be back on Tuesday.

Trust all members of PSC family are doing well :)

Sri Baug

Thambi  some times spoke about Sri Baug.  It seems it had (has?) as many as seven doorways, with different names.  Ramakrishnan and I once visited Sri Baug, thanks to  Bobjee, who knew some of the  new owners.

Imagine having to live in such a house today, with all the attendant problems of finding servants, security, water, power etc. etc.  But I guess if you lived in such a house you would have enough money to find people to do all the work for you!

Hope other elders also will have some thoughts.
In fact Bhavana is trying to plan a visit to the building - a group visit with as many of us that can come together. Wonder where we should go for permission?

V's tests for the academic year (4th std) begin on the 17th and they last for over a month!! They finish only on 20th August!!! And just a few days from then, probably a week later, the 2nd cycle tests start. Huh!! So, that means that we are bound to our homes for the rest of the year. Not that I am a paatti or something, but these days why do parents have to literally study all over again with the kids? I don't ever remember amma or appa sit with us and help us with studies. Neither did we attend tutions, atleast not till we were in 11th or so. So, how did we all study? What has changed now? And V's only in 4th now. What would happen as she goes to higher classes?
