We had a get together this evening, thanks to Ravi's initiative. It was a lovely evening with a lot of laughter and cheer - I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.
The only downside was that quite few members of the family could not make it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHANDRU MAMA (as usual, my wish comes rather late, SORRYYYY)

I was in Kovaipudur the last three days, and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, Siddhar's presence and blessings, and importantly - lazing and doing nothing!!!!

And it is now back to run-run, what with Navaratri upon us.
I am going on a ten day tour to China with 8 other friends from Prayas (the L&T wives' group). Will be leaving on 8th and returning on 18th.

Back to life!

 Hullo all.  I have been off the blog for some days, thanks to the computer breaking down.  It was revived after replacing the SDMS (or SMDS?).  Don't know what that is, but I think it has something to do with the power supply.  In this interregnum, Anu's birthday has come and gone.  But Ramu has noted it in the blog.  I sent her an SMS but don't know if she got it.  And today Chandru turns 80, a landmark in any one's life.  He must be celebrating it in the enjoyable company of Kumar and Mala in Delhi.

Gayathri has gone to Kovaipudur for a brief visit.  Her trip to China will now be after Navaratri, I understand.

Sumanth`s upanayanam photos are very good.
The photographer, I think, is known to them and the same person had taken photos for their functions earlier also. Vidhya told me that in some function, the photographer was asked to cover Papa and other family members of them, most. AND he had taken maximum snaps of Lux, mistaking her for Papa!!!!!!

Yeah, Rajiv found his soulmate! She is a Maharashtrian Brahmin girl, working in Bombay. TSS & I are planning to go to Pune to meet her parents next weekend, and only then will we know future plans. In all probability there will be an engagement in Nov-Dec in Bombay, and the wedding will be only NEXT year.

How can we forget the evening sloka sessions! When I was too young to read the slokas, I wanted to join the refrain of some slokas that I knew, so I would ask for Aigiri nandini or some such long ones - & would get agni looks from others !!!!
And in a lighter vein, Jangamma from her seated position in the hall would polambufy to mop up the water on the floor from thatha's sandhyavandanam - and JUST before that could be done, Prasad would come running and slip and fall!

Thatha's Ramayana parayanam, his Sriramajayam writing,the Rama picture in the hall - for me too that has been the greatest influence. I used to vie with Lalitha athai to get thatha's appreciation of the kolam that had to be put for the Ramayana parayanam!

PSC MEMORIES

From Jayaramanna`s writing , it shows how much importance appa attached to it and he has been following it throughout his life. All of us realise how much it has been helping everyone.
Appa was a great Rama bhaktha and I think he used to share all his feelings, worriies, joy, etc., only with Rama. Because I have never heard him mentioning anything about his worries or past life or even his happy times. He never used to express his opinions, unless asked for and never used to comment or critisise anyone. I realise the importance of these excellent qualities in all our daily lives and I realise how difficult it is to practice it! What ever little I know about Sri Bagh days and after that is only from others.

PSC/Sahasranama stotram/.

When Appa was transferred to Devakottai, Ramakrishnan and I were left in Madras so that our studies would not suffer. We went to Devakottai for a summar vacation. During those two months, Appa would call me every afternoon, around 300 p.m. I think, and we would together recite the Vishnu Sahasranama stotram, I of course reading from a book. Before the vacation was over, I had learnt the whole stotram by heart and could recite it without referring to the book.

PSC MEMORIES

After evening walk, appa would sit in the dining hall of K,Nagar at 06.15 PM and start his sandyavandhanam. Within 10 minutes, all of us would assemble for the evening slokham and bhajan session. Appa will circulate handwritten copies of a new slokham, ( he himself used to write several copies of the slokham ) and teach us. Then old slokhams , followed by bhajans.
( I try to do it now with only Vaishnavi but fail often ). Rukku, Lux, Lalitha, me, Rama, Ashok, Shobha, Venkat, Chander all used to be there.
