Quotation from TOI (Times of India) dated 29-12-2001.
I must take issue with the term "a mere child", for it has been my invariable experience that the company of a mere child is infinitely preferable to that of a mere adult.

Happy birthdays
A very very happy birthday from all of us to Sridhar anna and Jyotsna. Have a great day :)
Can't believe we are at the end of yet another year!!! This year seems to have flown at such a pace, it's amazing.

user information on surface labels of retail packaging
The following is the lighter side of user instruction on packaging…
Source : the e-magazine : www.lokavani.com issue : October 2008 - I
Some examples of why the human race has probably evolved as far as possible. These are actual instruction labels on consumer goods:
On Sears hairdryer:
Do not use while sleeping.
(Gee, that's the only time I have to work on my hair!)
On a bag of Fritos:
You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.
(The shoplifter special!)
On a bar of Dial soap:
Directions: Use like regular soap.
(and that would be how?)
On some Swann frozen dinners:
Serving suggestion: Defrost.
(But it's 'just' a suggestion!)
On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert: (printed on bottom of the box)
Do not turn upside down.
(Too late! you lose!)
On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding:
Product will be hot after heating.
(Are you sure? Let's experiment.)
On packaging for a Rowenta iron:
Do not iron clothes on body.
(But wouldn't that save more time?)
(Whose body?)
On Boot's Children's cough medicine:
Do not drive car or operate machinery.
(We could do a lot to reduce the construction accidents if we just kept those 5 year olds off those fork lifts.)
On Nytol sleep aid:
Warning: may cause drowsiness.
(One would hope!)
On a Korean kitchen knife:
Warning: keep out of children.
(hmm...something must have gotten lost in the translation...)
On a string of Christmas lights:
For indoor or outdoor use only.
(As opposed to use in outer space.)
On a food processor:
Not to be used for the other use.
(Now I'm curious.)
On Sainsbury's peanuts:
Warning: contains nuts.
(but no peas?)
On an American Airlines packet of nuts:
Instructions: open packet, eat nuts.
(somebody got paid big bucks to write this one...)
On a Swedish chainsaw:
Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands.
(Raise your hand if you've tried this...)
On a child's Superman costume:
Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.
(Oh go ahead! That's right, destroy a universal childhood belief.)

I am overwhelmed! I had no idea that the newspaper clipping had been posted here! THAAAAANKS for the wishes, everybody!
Simply had no time to come to the computer the past week. Today I have been home in the morning after a very long time, phew! Gotto run again in the evening.
Aishwarya, enjoyed your bit about the baby shower :):)

Ramakrishna Perippa,
Thanks. But no photos, perippa. Amrritha surprisingly slept through the event so I did not have a chance to move from my chair. It's totally ok, perippa. Even we remembered the anniversary only the day before :) His id is r.saminathan@gmail.com
Congrats Gaythri akka. Saw some pictures of you, Ramya at Ramnarayanan's event on FB. Some lec-dem, I presume.

Anniversary
Yesterday 12th December was the second anniversary of my bypass surgery. After a couple of months of pain and discomfort, I have been able to go about as a normal 80 year old by God's will.. At that time we had a lot of doubt if the surgery was required or advisable at the age of 79. I must thank my relatives here in Coimbatore like Jayaraman, Chandru and Narayanan who persuaded me and also my Doctor Sundar Ramanathan for the excellent job he did. Gayathri was also able to come and was with me in the hospital all the ten days. During the two months following, Charu's attention to my needs and forcing me to eat etc is something I will not forget. I am blessed to have such relatives and I say once again what I have said before that relationships are the most important thing in life, to make us happier in good times and help us bear bad times.

Aishwarya, let me also wish you a Wedding Anniveersary and many happy returns, though I am very late. What is Kaushik's email ID ?

Greetings
Aishwarya and Koushik celebrated their wedding anniversary on the 6th December. The family greets them and wishes them many happy returns.
I must apologise for not including this in the monthly celebrities list. My little diary was not properly updated last year, hence the slip. I also failed to include Jairam (Ramaa's son-in-law) among the birthday babes. Apologies again.
We had no Internet connection for more than a week from 1 December. BSNL kept giving us a run-around, with the local exchange guy being impolite and indifferent. Thanks to an unnamed samaritan, the connection was set right last evening.

Desi Baby shower
Haha, the image of the mamis in Pattu pudavais wearing coats, girls wearing pavadais and speaking with the accent sounds hilarious.
Really appreciate that people do have seemandhams even if in NY. Very few have them even in India these days. It has become optional. In my case, we did not have a seemandham as M was in Singapore then.

Desi baby shower
We happened to attend a seemandham of one of our neighbours at Pomona Ranganathar Kovil, NY. Fusing the desi and western practices, they had 'baby shower' balloons all over the tiny hall that had a nostalgic scent of pattu pudavis. But of course, the pudavai-sporting maamis were walking around with winter coats and boots. It seemed like a perfect place to observe NRIs trying hard to strike a balance.
And the ABCD (American Born Confused Desi) kids were conversing in heavily accented English to their moms who were feeding them thatchi mammu, catered by the temple management. The whole event was absolute fun. That day being our wedding anniversary, we also had a chance for Ranganathar darshanam.

Jai Ho!!
To our blog.. Perippa, my sincere apologies for not being able to contribute for a while, other than a few quick posts. I, too, totally agree with KN athimber in that your wishes are for the whole PSC family.
Most of my posts are done during some free time at work. But of late, work has been quite hectic with me having to train a new joinee in UK. And during weekends, I just don't feel like switching on the laptop unless absoluetely necessary. I promise to continue my contributions.
Yesterday we saw the movie 7aam arivu. I thought the movie was good, though I think they tried to convey too much information within 3 hours. But the basic concept is definitely good and Surya has done a great job.

Some confusion
Jayaram,
When I opened the blog now I could only see the November postings and not the two postings I had done in December. Then I clicked Archives December and got the postings. Also the photoes are of NOVEMBER celebreties.

The Blog should continue
Power cuts in the morning and evening coupled with my own routine timings for walk, outing, lunch, serial, siesta etc together with Vivek's cornering the computer and also the breakdown of my UPS resulted in my not participating in the Blog for quite some time and I have missed it. I have talked to persons like Ramaa and Raji about the blog and they see it once in a while but do not post anything. I requested them to write something, anything at least once a month. Sowmya says she is too busy and rarely sees her mail. Varshaya was once active but is now silent. Ravi talks about the need to belong and keeping in touch with relatives (I hope he sees this)but I dont know if he sees the blog.
The BLOG SHOULD CONTINUE and I suppose, like in a bus, people will get in and get out at intervals.
To make it interesting, let me say a joke ( I read it recently and some of you also might have seen it).:
He has just starting learning golf and carries some balls in his trouser pocket to the course, in a bus. The lady in the next seat keeps staring at the bulge. He is not able to stand it and says "gold balls". After a little while, the lady asks "Is it as painful as tennis elbow".

Saradam and I wish Anu and Rajan a Happy Wedding Anniversary and many happy, healthy returns.
