Happy Birthday

Dear All,

I was rather unwell for some time and did not see any mail for some time. I am now okay and fine after my doctor said that there is water-retention in the body creating gas and also some gasping and asked me to cut down on salt and also gave a medicine. So I opened the mail-blog today.

I find I have missed so many birthdays. I wish all those many happy returns.

I hope I will be able to participate in the blog from now more actively.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the company of Akila, Mohan and Vaishnavi. Here's a collage of some pictures of Vaishnavi snapped during their visit.

I had put up a comment on Akila's post on Brindavan. But Jayaraman says comments are hardly looked at because it requires a click! So I repeat what I said.

We should thank Akila, Mohan and Vaishnavi for the company they gave us and Vimala-Jayaraman (Mythili-Chandru are in Singapore). They not only entertained us, but Akila sang devotional songs for 40 minutes before an appreciative gathering of Brindavan residents. Vaishnavi coolly sat on the stage and sang two songs, one by herself!
They were here during two very hot days. And Brindavan offered them a skimpy lunch (post-Deepavali).

Brindavan

We had an amazing holiday at Brindavan. Though it was just 2 days there, it was extremely refreshing. Now, our family has a great weekend get-a-away :) . And the atmosphere there is so positive!!!

I should say Vaishnavi enjoyed the most there. She had a great time, doing nothing but walk about the place, with nothing to fear.

We have to thank God a lot . Jayaramanna, I used to feel this very often and you have also said that. There is no doubt. I , (and Sarada also,) used to feel very often that I should thank God for making me also a son of Kunjappa and Janga manni. As I grow older and look back the olden days, this feeling becomes stronger day by day. The closeness of the family was proved on many occassions in my life - my children`s education, marriage, my own life from 1986 to 1994 with Ashok - there are so many things I can mention.
For present day children, so many things are available - television with numerous channels, cell phone, computer, so many video games, parents ready to get them anything, scooters, car, etc.......... - which we never had in our childhood. BUT WE WERE MUCH MUCH HAPPIER IN OUR CHILDHOOD.
On Lalitha`s birthday, I also was telling myself that the youngest child of PSC Jangamanni is 60 .
There are so many things in my mind but I am not able to express in the right way.

Thanks a lot, Ramu, for the birthday good wishes. I also received phone calls from some of the family this morning and all these made me realise once again the closeness that prevails in the PSC family. The youngest of PSC's children is now sixty years old. I remember the old days when, on every birthday, ayshya homam would be performed at home. How times have changed!

We have a lot to thank God for in this life. I now increasingly think about what I have done, within my capabilities, to help others who need help and feel that the performance falls far short of what it should be. But still I am not sure that I will rectify this in the future.

ALL WISHES TO LALITHA ATHAI ON HER GREAT MILESTONE!

News from my side: I have been deeper than neck deep with Prayas medical centre work! We are planning a HUUUGE Eye Camp with Shankara Nethralaya on 24th. A team of 30 optometrists will be coming and we hope to screen about 200 patients. Those needing surgery will be taken to SN. As it is a camp, surgery will be at subsidised rate, and Prayas will bear the cost - it will all be free for the poor people.
I have been at the helm of preparations along with Malathi Jagannathan, and now I have to delegate everything to the members and step aside - I am not going to be in town on Camp day!
Rajiv and Nameeta are arriving tomorrow for 4 days. I will be going to Bombay with them on 14th. TSS will join us later. We will be celebrating Thalai Deepavali in Pune. I will be returning only around Nov 10 after attending two weddings there.
And before I forget, WISHING A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VISHAK - He turns 18 this year -Wish you all success in your studies.

Wow, so many b'days this month! Wishes to ALL of you!
Ramya's mom-in-law Anupama also shares her b'day with Ramya. Ramya will be returning to the US on 5th after a two week tour of the UK, where she has been singing for Rama Vaidyanathan's dance pgms. She was also able to spend time with many of her in-laws who live there. Hopefully she will visit Ravi tomorrow Sunday. Jawaharji & Anupama are in the US now - it has taken 4 years for Ramya & Anuj to settle down together so that parents could make visit!

Back from Delhi

Here I am, back from my Delhi trip. Mohan could not accompany us in the last minute due to work!!! So, it was just Vaishnavi and I who went. Bu we did have fun all the same.

We visited Lalitha athai too. This is the first time I am going to their house. We also happened to meet Mala manni there. I think the last time I met her was when I was a little older than what Vaishnavi is now!!!
